Lawton Art Gallery
For one of my location activities, I went to the Wisconsin-Green Bay's Lawton Art Gallery http://www.uwgb.edu/lawton/. This art gallery consist of artwork that local Green Bay students have made. Walking through this gallery showed that many of these artist had different tastes, styles, and ideas in their artwork.
There were many pieces of art that I caught my attention but the one that caught my attention the most is in the picture above. I loved how this picture blended the colors together. This is my favorite kind of art because it makes people have to think what it actaully is. While staring at this picture I wonder many things like what kind of state of mind was the artist in when creating this picture and if each color represented something more significant than someone can tell by just looking at it.
There was a lot of different kinds of art in the gallery and some were photographed pictures. I never really saw this as art until I saw the picture named "Bringing Sexy Back." At first this made me laugh cause the person that was in the photograph was a dancing overwieght man with his shirt off. After looking at this photo a little closer i realized that the point the artist was trying to get across was everyone is beautiful in their own way. I really like this because it shows that everyone should be comfortable with their own bodies and how some people can only focus on external things.
Walking around in the Lawton Art Gallery really made me realize that so many people have different ideas and thoughts on what art really is. I have only been to a few art galleries in my life but this made me realize what I was missing. I enjoyed looking at a picture and trying to understand and guess what the picture was about. There was a lot of pieces of art that I enjoyed and a few that I do not fully understand.
